The only difference between the "Smoke Trail" technique and "The Method" is the manner in which the trajectory and the speed of the target are established.

As the name implies ,"Smoke Trail" means the muzzles of the mounted gun are brought from behind the target  (up it's smoke trail),  then with it and so ahead and following through after the shot as with "The Method".

This technique can be useful in creating and maintaining the necessary "swing" and "follow through" required.

It is often the technique naturally employed by those who shoot mainly driven pheasants and has been taught as

" Bum - Belly - Beak - Bang ! "
